You’ll probably have to go through Citizens, the state’s insurer. Call your auto insurance agent and see if they write it. If not many/most State Farm agents do.

But before you do that go ahead and call around to some local brokers and see if they have any companies writing new policies, or call the Florida Market Assistance Plan, set up to help people find coverage. You can call them at 800-524-9023 or register online at http://www.fmap.org.

From what I’ve seen Citizens is the safest bet. But I haven’t seen everything.

Condo Insurance in Tampa, Florida Needed ASAP?

Now that State Farm Insurance will no longer be providing home or condo insurance, does anyone know another company that has reasonable insurance? I am not necessarily looking for the cheapest but want a reliable one that will PAY if I actually have a claim!

We use State Farm. I never have had a home claim but I know someone who did and they received excellent service. I’ve used them for car claims and they are very helpful.

I need auto, health, and condo insurance; what is the cheapest way of doing this?

I need a descent health plan that will cover prescriptions. I am still young and don’t need much but I do have a prescription to fill that is about 250 without assistance. So I guess what I’m wondering is if I get all of them through a company like State Farm, will they give me a price break since I use them for everything? Thank you.

OK, if you don’t have anything wrong with you (but you do), health insurance is GOING to cost you $250 a month. So yours will likely be more.

Health is ONE kind of insurance, and condo/auto is another – you’re NOT going to get State Farm health insurance. Your health won’t be with the same company as your car and condo.

You WILL get a price break on the car and condo, but NOT the health.

I’d go to a local, independent agent for quotes. But health will be CHEAPEST through your employer.

what companies offer good homeowners insurance?

I am looking for a good company to get homeowners insurance with. I have looked at few companies and have gotten quotes from AIG, Progressive,geico, usaa, state farm, and farmers insurance. So far Farmers insurance is the cheapest and geico is the most exspensive but gives great coverage. I guess I would like to know are these companies any good and are there any websites that I can look at see reports about them.

Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around?
the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great.
this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins.
The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman.
Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy.
So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net.

What do I look for when buying homeowners insurance?

I am closing on a home on 9.26 and was told to purchase homeowners insurance. It is my first home and I am not sure what I should be asking and/or looking for in a carrier. I live in Minneapolis, MN if that helps at all.

Do you have a real estate agent? They should be able to offer some suggestions for you. Maybe you mortgage lender could recommend an insurance company too.
You could contact the mainstream insurance companies like Geico or State Farm (do a web search for their websites), they offer homeowners insurance. You might even be able to get a quote by filling out your information online, if not, just get their phone number off the website and give them a call. If this is your first time, you might want to get a few different quotes. It’s similar to automobile insurance, you have a deductible and a coverage amount. They will give you a quote on standard policy amounts but you can change those amounts (higher or lower) if you want to. The amount to rebuild will be X amount of dollars, the amount to replace your contents….well you will need to estimate that. It’s not as confusing as you might think and most of the time, if you let them know it’s your first home purchase, they explain everything really well. Hope this helps…..

How much should I expect to spend on home insurance?

I am planning a home purchase and I want to budget my monthly payment. In the area where I live, I expect to pay approx 650K for a 3bed, 2 bath home. When I calculate my monthly payment, I want to know the home insurance component as well as Property Tax for Fremont, CA if possible.

about 1,800 yearly. have it impounded with escro and it wont hurt a bit. i pay 1,600. 530k home in hayward. congrats on the purchase. state farm was a good bet.

I’ve gotten quotes from State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, and Homesite. My auto insurance company is Geico, unfortunately they don’t offer home insurance.

It would be helpful to know which companies you got quotes from. If you can its better to get your condo insurance with the same company that carries your auto insurance so you will get discounts on both policies. In other words keep the same company for both policies.

I would take one of the first 3 companies you mention. I never heard of that last one.

And, whichever company you pick switch your auto insurance company to them too. You get great discounts having both policies with the same company.

I think State Farm is best, but I am biased. So be sure to ask other people as well.
